About Joe O’Connor
Hi, I’m Joe
I’m a globally recognized expert in four-day workweeks, smart work design, and sustainable human performance.
As the CEO and Co-founder of Work Time Revolution, I lead a global consulting and research firm that specializes in innovative work models for the age of AI. My mission is to create a world of better work and balanced lives, where we achieve more while working less.
My work sits at the intersection of organizational effectiveness and human-centered design. I help teams in startups, SMEs, and Fortune 500s move beyond outdated industrial-era systems toward agile, outcome-focused cultures that reduce overwork and busywork, promote focus, wellbeing and sustainable performance, and align work with the realities of modern life.
Previously, I served as the CEO of 4 Day Week Global, where I led the world's largest and most influential four-day week trials, transforming work for tens of thousands of employees across the US and Canada, the UK and EU, and Australasia. I pioneered the world’s first coordinated private sector four-day week pilot in Ireland and co-designed its research framework in collaboration with Boston College and University College Dublin.
I am the co-author of Do More in Four, the definitive guide to making the four-day workweek work, to be published by Harvard Business Review in January 2026. I have also served as a visiting research scholar with Cornell University’s ILR School in New York City, where I led a research project on work time reduction and future-of-work policy.
My perspective draws from more than a decade of leadership experience across purpose-driven organizations, think tanks, and labor movements. I combine academic depth with real-world expertise, bridging research and action to help shape what’s next in how we work.
Lifelong New York Mets, Knicks, Buffalo Bills and Maple Leafs fan. Dog Dad. Recreational football (soccer) and softball player. Political junkie.
Thanks for stopping by.
